Redeeming the 8th Function: Being Towards Death

Image
What I seek to offer is a specific path towards improving our relationship with our 8th function that tries to transform the nihilism and resignation that can arise in this relationship. Such attitudes of nihilism and resignation can be quite subtle and unconscious rather than overtly intended, especially if you are reflecting attitudes that are quite common in other people. Depth psychology suggests that most people have an unconscious affinity for these negative emotions of nihilism and resignation, including myself . I relate to the pain of the 8th function a lot since it has been cruelly imposed on me, and thus I have a lot of care and empathy towards other people like myself who are struggling with it. I believe the struggle with the 8th function has the potential to be alchemically transformed into psychological gold, and I am unusually sensitive to approaches which don't take it in that direction since I believe I have an accentuation on that aspect of my own 8th function (a...

Psychosophy and Tarot

One interesting connection that occurred to me recently regarding Psyche Yoga/Psychosophy/Attitudinal Psyche is that it connects very neatly with the four traditional elements and with the four suits of the Tarot. Will = Fire = Wands Volition: The attitude towards personal energy, willpower, power, identity, confidence, desired goals, overcoming obstacles, self-control, responsibility and obligations. Emotion=Water=Cups Emotion: The attitude towards emotional reactions, feelings, experiences, intuition, relationships, culture, artistic expression, music, entertainment, and deep desires. Logic=Air=Swords Logic: The attitude towards all logical thinking, analyses, knowledge, erudition, opinions, proofs, arguments, the search for truth, scientific research of the meaning of life. Physics=Earth=Disks Physics: The attitude towards all material things: looks, food, belongings, money, aesthetic, comfort, physical care and practical skills...

The order of types in social progress, or why are quadras replaced?

1. Introduction Why are the quadras replaced?  - many amateurs, as well as serious listeners in socionics courses addressed me with such a question more than once.  To a large extent, my report can be interpreted as a continuation or rather of an addition to my report at a previous conference, which was called the "Socion Watch".  This time I'm going to look inside the ring of types, as well as inside the type itself.  But what ring will we talk about?  Which group of types serves as the engine of a socion organized into quadras? 2. Induction and reduction It makes sense to first consider the question of why and how functions change within the type itself.  Firstly, it is simpler, and secondly, both mechanisms operate on the same principle.  If we deal with the first, then the second will not remain a secret to us.  I suppose that there must be some primary switching effects (and, accordingly, at the second stage - switching off).  Whi...

What is quadra? general description

Quadra is a group of four sociotypes, united by common socio-psychological priorities and performing a strictly defined mission in the process of social development. Socionics regards the process of evolution in society as a sequence of alternating stages, each of which is characterized by its own moral and psychological climate and a system of professed values.  For each of these areas of development is responsible for one of the four quadras (lat. Quadrum - quadrangle).  Quadratic groups alternate as follows: The first quadra (alpha) is the Illuminators, who create and disseminate fundamentally new ideas of social development in society.  The Enlightenment quadra includes the Seeker (ILE), the Analyst (LII), the Enthusiast (ESE), and the Mediator (AEI).  The main features of this quadra are democratism (openness, pluralism, the prevalence of horizontal managerial relations) and disputability (deliberation, lack of a power component in decision-making). Th...
