Lyrik (INFP) and Humanist (INFJ) types comparison in MBTI and Humanitarian Socionics

1. Why do we need comparative socionics (in order of reminder)
Comparative (comparative) socionics I practice for many years. For the first time I applied this approach publicly at a meeting of a scientific seminar on March 21, 2005, when the types of V. Yushchenko and Yu. Timoshenko were discussed. Then I presented the first comparative table of types of FEL and LSI, containing a list of ten contrasting differences. The need for such comparisons arises from both scientific and practical inquiries. I will name so far only two reasons that encourage me to develop this area.
First, the comparative will bring considerable benefits for the optimal distribution of places (functional roles) in a team. And ultimately in the socion, if such communities appear. Without a clear distinction between neighboring types, for example, quasi-identical or related, it is impossible to understand why similar types are needed. In a natural ecosystem, as is known, each species occupies its own niche and an alien with similar functions is able to force out the aborigine and thereby bring down the natural balance. For example, the Marshal type tends to occupy the role of an engine and a group coordinator in a team. And here comes the Administrator, who is also an extrovert manager with similar complaints. How do they disperse in such a way as not to split the existing team?
And, secondly, the comparative is needed for practical diagnostic purposes. The fact is that during the interview the respondent is often seen at once in two types. This bifurcation arises from the fact that one of the four dichotomies defining the type shows averages, without explicit preference for one of the poles. Some foreign practices even believe that there are special intermediate types. They denote an indefinite dichotomy by the letter X. A kind of intermediate types are obtained. The average type between Lyric and Humanist is denoted by INFX.
I think that clarity can be restored by applying a subtype analysis. But we are now talking about something else. In order to distinguish between types during a diagnostic interview, you need to be well aware of the points that need to be asked clarifying questions, as well as the reactions that need to be monitored. It is important that such a comparative table for pairs of types that differ in one socionic attribute of the four, would be at your disposal already before the start of diagnosis.
I will present such a table to you today using the example of the Lyrik and the Humanist type comparison, as I already did a year ago for the Analyst and Critic types. But first, let's take a look at how things are going on this issue in the MBTI theory competing with socionics.
2. Difference between INFJ and INFP
Comparative approach is very popular on foreign resources dedicated to MBTI. Details about the differences between introverted humanities can be found, for example, https://introvertdear.com/news/infj-or-infp-ways-different/ or here: https://personalityhacker.com/infp-vs-infj/ .
Let us dwell on the first source. Here is what the author writes.
“I remember the first time I met my good friend Justin. I’m not sure where I’ve seen it.
I remember the first time I met my good friend Justin. I saw him walking down the hall on his first day of work, and I thought, “He’s like me.”
Turns out, I was right. We had so much in common. At the time, we were both teachers and aspiring writers. Were introve for We ts the who contentedly spent will most of Our Evenings AT home - But Could the BE coaxed out for the Occasional deep conversation over wine . It’s a way of life that’s a lot of people.
It turned out that I was right. We had so much in common. At that time, we were both teachers and aspiring writers. We were introverts who spent most of the evenings at home, although we could be pulled out for a detailed conversation over a glass of wine. We saw the world in a similar way, struggled with such things, and both dreamed of a life rich in inspiration and meaning.
'M an I of the INFJ personality of the type , and of He's an the INFP .On the surface,
we're very advertisers Select Similar.
But in some ways, we're practically opposites. One letter can make a big difference.
My personality type is INFJ, and his personality type is INFP. At first glance, we are very similar. But in a sense, we are almost the opposite. One letter can make a big difference.
According to MBTI theory , in INFR, it’s the cognitive functions are.
According to MBTI theory, cognitive functions of the INFJ type are arranged in the following order, starting from the strongest and ending with the most slobly function:
Introverted Intuition (Ni) - intuition of time (T)
Extroverted Feeling (Fe) - Ethics of Emotions (E)
Introverted Thinking (Ti) - structural logic (L)
Extroverted Sensing (Se) - Power Sensors (F).
Thus, if we compare this series with model A, we get that the INFJ will have the first unit (Ego) TE, that is, like Lyrics, and the second (Superego) - LF, that is, like Humanist. Thus, type INFJ, from the point of view of model “A”, is half Lyrical and half Humanist.
But what about the INFP type.
The INFP's cognitive functions are:
Introverted Feeling (Fi) - Relationship Ethics (R)
Extroverted Intuition (Ne) - Intuition of Opportunities (I)
Introverted Sensing (Si) - introverted sensory (S)
Extroverted Thinking (Te) - extroverted logic (P).
Here is the same picture. The first two functions of the INFP correspond to the block of the Humanist Ego, and the two following functions correspond to the block of the Superego Lyric. From the point of view of socionics, we obtained an artificial intermediate type. The most interesting thing is that this does not prevent the MBTI specialists from confidently distinguishing between types and explaining the observed differences.
A thought creeps in that both models, the MBTI and the “A” model, are arbitrary. This is not a reflection of psychic reality, as it really is, but merely explanatory schemes, which allow one way or another to organize disparate data about people's preferences. Therefore, from a fundamental point of view, it does not matter which model to use. Rather, it is a matter of taste, tradition and other subjective preferences.
Here are five ways to separate these types from each other and explain the difference using the MBTI model.
1. INFJs are more analytical
The first difference . INFJs are more analytical, while INFPs are more artistic.
This difference is given in the following explanation: “INFJs appear more analytical than INFPs because they“ extrovert ”a judging function”. The humanist looks more analytic than Lyric because he extraverts a rational function.
INFPs, start with a judging function (Fi), then move to a perceiving function (Ne). They show their perceiving function to the world. It gives the appearance of being more open, flexible, and exploratory traits typically associated with artists and creative types.
On the other hand, the INFPs show the world their irrational intuitive extravert function. This gives them a look of a more open, flexible and searchable person — traits usually associated with artists and other creative types.
Socionics will explain the greater analyticity of the Humanist by the fact that he is a rational and structural logic has a role function. And the greater flexibility and artistry of the Lyric is its irrationality and the demonstrative function of the ethics of emotions.
2. INFJs are more aware of their own
The second difference : INFJs are more aware of other people's feelings, while INFPs are more aware of their own.
Again, this difference comes down to cognitive functions. INFJ's feeling function is extroverted, so they naturally tune into other people's emotions. Because of this superpower, INFJs tend to have high levels of empathy. It's not a surprise that they often become counselors, life coaches, and therapists.
This difference also comes down to cognitive functions. The ethical function of INFJ is extraverted, so they naturally tune into other people's emotions. Because of this, INFJs tend to have a high level of empathy. It is not surprising that they often become consultants, trainers and psychotherapists.
The downside is INFJs may have a hard time discerning their own feelings . It is not a problem. It is up to you to put everyone’s needs ahead of their own .
The downside is that INFJs may have difficulty with their own feelings. It looks as if their own feelings are entangled in the feelings of others. As a result, they tend to put other people's needs above their own.
INFPs, “follow your heart, live by the motto,“ follow your heart. ” It often becomes the spirit of their writing, music, or art.
On the other hand, INFPs live under the motto “follow your heart.” Since their sensual function is introverted, they naturally are attuned to their own feelings. They are masters of their inner emotional state, which often becomes the source for their literary or musical works.
My comment to these statements. I would not say that Lyrics are masters of their emotional state. On the contrary, they are dependent on their mood much more than Humanists.
The great empathicism of humanist socionics is explained by the fact that its leading function is the ethics of relationships, which is actually responsible for this. And Lyrics is highly dependent on his own mood - his changeable, receptively-adaptive temperament.
3. INFJs seek insight
The third difference : INFJs seek insight (through insight), while INFPs explore human experience.
Analytical by nature, INFJs are driven to seek insight . Often, it is a nature of human nature. The philosophers Nietzsche and Schopenhauer were probably INFJs. INFJ's tendency to observe patterns, notice patterns, and make deductions. INFJs often operate as a social analysts or prophets, interpreting and interpreting.
Analytical in nature, INFJs seek insight through insight. Often their favorite topics in reading (and writing) are psychology, personal growth, spirituality, current events, and fictional stories that reveal human nature.
The philosophers Nietzsche and Schopenhauer were probably INFJ. This is consistent with the trend of INFJ to observe, notice patterns and draw conclusions. INFJs often act as social analysts or prophets, interpreting what they see and, if necessary, call for social or moral change.
There is a lot of interest in exploring the human experience. Writers Virginia Woolfe and Albert Camus are thought to have INFPs.
INFPs are more interested in exploring a person’s condition — the sorrows, joys, and emotions behind human experience. It is believed that the writers Virginia Woolf and Albert Camus were INFPs.
And what will socionics say on this score? Understanding through insight is the second function of the Humanist. According to humanitarian socionics, information is processed through the second function, which is instrumental, that is, performs the role of a processor in the psyche. In the Humanist this is the intuition of time. But the role of the interface, that is, the reception and delivery of information, is played by the first function. However, I cannot agree with the fact that the Humanists are social analysts and prophets, because I think that they lack emotional expressiveness and rebellious energy to radicalize society.
4. INFJs have no problem, making bold assertions, whereas INFPs may seem less sure
The fourth difference : INFJs are not afraid to make categorical statements, whereas INFPs may seem less sure.
Because of the INFJs “extrovert” and the judging function, they tend to come across
Since INFJs "extraverted" the evaluation function, they tend to allow more confident and authoritarian statements ("The only way to prevent global warming is to reduce our dependence on coal!").
INFPs, make to make definitive statements of strong conviction. Again, that's why they “extrovert” a perceiving function. (“We should explore global warming.”)
For their part, INFPs may try to make strong statements of strong conviction, but they will be less defined and categorical. The reason is that they "extrovert" the irrational function of intuition. (“We must explore ways to correct global warming”).
5. INFJs seek inner control
Fifth difference : INFJs crave external control, while INFPs seek internal control.
Outwardly, INFJs tend to be together. As judgers, they are being planned in advance. However, they can not feel “together.” Because of their dominant function, it’s Internally, INFJs are more open, flexible, and exploratory than they appear.
Externally, INFJs look compiled. As reasonable types, they are usually organized, they do everything on time and plan things in advance. However, they may not feel collected. Because their dominant function, Ni, is a receptive function, their inner world is more susceptible. Inside, INFJ is more open, flexible, and exploratory compared to how they look outside.
For INFPs, it's the opposite. Outwardly, they appear flexible. They care less about deadlines, schedules, plans, and keeping things neat and tidy. Inwardly, they are more judger-like, that is, more rigid and structured.
For INFP, the opposite is true. Outwardly, they seem flexible and willing to "go with the flow." They care less about terms, schedules, plans and accurate storage of things. But internally they are more rational, that is, more rigid and structured.
My comments on this statement. This is true, but I will add that concerns not only these two types. Any rational is internally irrational and vice versa, any irrational is internally organized according to a rational principle.
3. Lyric - Humanist: a comparison in general
And now let's compare the types of Lyrik and Humanist from the standpoint of humanitarian socionics. What is common between them and what is different?
These types are similar in attitudes (both humanists), but different in temperaments (a receptively adaptive Lyric versus a balanced, stable Humanist), and also differ in quadras. The lyric comes from ideologically “charged” and ready to fight for the power of Beta, and the Humanist comes from a comfortable-running and therefore bored delta. Also between them there is a difference in social progress, that is, the sequence of functions.
Thus, although the mission of these types is determined by the same functions - introverted ethics and intuition, the sequence of these functions is the opposite. The formula of leading functions Lyrics - TR, and the Humanist - RT.
How is the mission of the type? A type mission is not a roadmap, that is, a non-step plan for moving towards a goal. The mission is understood as a purpose in society (socion and quadra), so the main goals within the mission should not be, as required by time management, specific, clear and measurable. On the other hand, the mission is not just a good wish and an abstract dream. If you focus on goals that inspire you and motivate you to take action, then you are moving in the right direction according to your mission, although this does not necessarily make you rich or famous.
Lyric type mission
I put the question this way: why Lyrik quadre Beta? The shortest answer is this: to appease this battle quadra. We decipher his psychological formula, and it contains the formulation of the mission.
Formula TR : Change (T) of relations ( ) , that is, anticipate the development of relations and correct them in a timely manner. If it is very short and specific, then prevent emerging conflicts. Without fulfilling this role in quadra Beta, a tough and dangerous power struggle begins.
Mission type humanist
Formula RT . The most concise formulation of the Humanist mission is: “ ethics of ( ) time ( ) ”. In more detail, it stands for: kindness and patience to achieve gradual changes for the better. It takes into account the humanitarian setting and the stabilizing role of the EII type in quadra.
And now we make a comparison between the types of their keywords that are used in the HS to build an image of the type.
Lyrics by keywords: lightness (relax and distract) + reconciliation + faith (in the future), but at the same time inconsistency.
I draw your attention to the fact that Lyric has weak functions that are responsible for performance, endurance and riskiness (P + I).
Humanist by keywords: kindness + tolerance + guilt, but vulnerable.
The Humanist has weak functions that are responsible for the rudeness and manipulation of human emotions (F + E).
Compare by position.
1) the ease and vitality of the Lyrics against the kindness and responsiveness of the Humanist,
2) reconciliation and mitigation of Lyrics against tolerance and restraint of the Humanist,
3) Belief in good. Lyrics against the guilt feelings of the Humanist and the fourth, the last comparison -
4) uncompatibility of Lyrics against the vulnerability of the Humanist.
Both of these types of peace-loving and able to console, but they do it in different ways. First, Lyric cheers and distracts, and the Humanist calms and tries to take something useful.
Secondly, Lyric softens and pacifies aggressive people, defusing the situation, turning the conflict into a joke. Sometimes it can provoke a conflict in order not to bring it to the maximum. The humanist, in principle, does not tolerate an atmosphere of rudeness and conflict, but he can do nothing with it. He either tolerates or is very inadequately indignant.
Thirdly. Differences in temperament. Lyric, although it seems more gentle than a humanist, is in fact much more stress resistant. The problem of a humanist is that he can only share his painful problems with very close people. He has the problem of adequate expression of dramatic emotions (control - E5).
4. Ten Specific Differences Between Lyrics and the Humanist
one.
Lyrics are effective in preventing emerging conflicts, or during the conflict itself, if it is necessary to pay for it, mitigate or redirect it.
A humanist is effective after a conflict to understand its causes and conclusions about himself. Gives you the opportunity to see yourself from the outside, to assess the consequences.
2
Lyric is very sensitive to his own state. Mood can change several times a day for reasons that are not always clear.
The humanist is very sensitive to the state and mood of the people around him. Feels that they are experiencing. Can not close on this.
3
Lyric is compatible with strong and confident people who are ready to fight, but do not know what awaits them, and who believe in omens. Their behavior must be predicted.
The humanist is compatible with rectilinear and persistent people who need moral evaluation and discussion of past events.
four.
Lyric, then softening, provoking and aggravating contradictions, corrects the system and contributes to its adaptation to dramatically changed conditions.
The humanist freezes contradictions, patiently waits for the stabilization of the system, but thereby makes it inflexible and uncompetitive.
five.
Lyric has a vortex thinking, one image is replaced by another, they are difficult to fix, to build a consistent chain. The decision is made on the basis of subjective assessments.
The humanist has a strict and consistent, albeit slow and fluctuating mindset. Needs detail, there are obsessive thoughts. Internal images are complex and contradictory.
6
Lyric is able to reach compromises. Easy and accommodating, they love him and forgive him an annoying disagreement.
A humanist is more likely to make a concession (less often rests) than to find a compromise. However, this is quickly forgotten and valued little.
7
The lyricist cheers, distracts, rejoices or grieves for any reason, thereby breaking the usual course of affairs.
The humanist is serious, does not tolerate idleness, seeks to be in business, keeps within the timelines and schedules.
eight.
Lyric is fearful because he feels an imminent danger that cannot be explained or avoided.
The humanist is experiencing anxiety, because he does not understand which of the expected options will come true.
9.
In Lyrics the most painful point is self-realization, courage and risky actions. He will be very proud of himself if his talent is recognized.
At the Humanist the most painful point is the accusations and the expression of negative emotions. Can not make trouble or intrigue.
ten.
Lyric appeals to the future, promises good, adjusts to the likely success.
The humanist appeals to the past, recalls, calls to work on himself, to correct mistakes.
Conclusion
I believe that under the conditions of pluralism of opinions, socionics have long lost the unity of terminology and even experts begin to give the same words and terms a different meaning, to explain the same psychological phenomena with different models. If we could agree on a common understanding of the meanings of the terms, then the current competition, reminiscent of a knockout war, could be softened. But in this way stands the dogmatic position of many socionics who are not ready to live in the multipolar world of modern human sciences.
I am on the side of those who believe that type is not a framework that limits you, but a set of tools that help you grow. The thing is how you will use these tools that nature has provided you with in life.
